Resident-driven Activities

Staying active and involved at North Adams Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is an important part of resident health and well-being. Our activities programming is as unique as our residents, reflecting their interests and abilities, and promoting mental, physical and spiritual wellness. Activities staff visit with residents to learn their preferences and provide leisure supplies for those preferring to spend time independently. Our resident council represents resident interests and makes recommendations regarding activities and other community events.

Our schedule of activities includes:

  • Creative, gentle exercise classes
  • Trivia and brain games
  • Card games and Bingo
  • Discussion groups
  • Garden club
  • Pet visits
  • Karaoke
  • Men’s group
  • Crafts
  • Music and sing-alongs
  • Sensory stations
  • Movies
  • Religious services
  • Live entertainment
  • Intergenerational programming

Our residents enjoy outings for lunch, shopping and to the theater. Every year we take part in the Drury High School Senior Citizen Prom and several of our residents have been chosen for the prom court. In the summer, we attend concerts at Windsor Lake and the North Adams SteepleCats collegiate baseball games. Sometimes we simply take a scenic ride, whether to view the changing leaves in the fall, the colorful lights at the holidays or blooming scenery in the warmer months.
